Yes, too may children are being so ill-served by this SAT-infatuated world that they are turning to drugs and life-threatening experiences. Some don’t just dabble in it – some are taking their lives.
So it’s not enough that the system isn’t preparing students for what life actually requires, it’s also the case that it’s driving some students to destroy their lives immediately.
Adderall is a drug taken to heighten the focus-ability of high school and college students who are losing ground, running out of time, and simply somehow just not making the grade. Got. to. get. the. grades. Just like the “Race to the Top” contest of our Federal Government – pitting states against each other in an uber-contest, “test”?, to see who can get to the highest peak first. Ah educational carrots- will we never walk away?
What have we come to that students are willingly seeking out artificial aids, drugs, to improve their chances of “getting there”. where? to the top. They have been so brainwashed about high test scores and more community service, and club participation, and, and…. so much to do for these poor souls that they see failure as a massive black mark to be avoided at all cost. Any risk is better than, frown, “that”.
Have a look at the link under the “troubles in schools” heading on the right. If you’ve not taken a moment to see what the “Race to Nowhere” film is about, do so. It’s eye-opening. Adderall is the surface of the problem.
Then, ask what the solution is, and come back to this site and read on. Let’s change the education conversation. “no mas” – yes? Que? You heard me. Let’s put an end to this end of the road approach to education. A pathway to illumination and possibility – that’s what all children need and deserve.
