Whatever you do – don’t “teach”. Facilitate, that’s fine, that’ll do. Allow, permit, foster, leverage if you have to, just don’t teach.
What it is to teach? It’s to attempt to create knowledge by telling, by lecturing. Knowledge is created by doing. So there’s a problem. Let us do away with the idea of “teaching”! Want to change the education conversation? Let’s take this on. Let’s change what goes on inside the “education boxes” traditional education calls classrooms. Students sitting at desks listening to a talking head is not conducive to learning. Stop it. Stop that. DO what YOU can.
Develop instead an approach that allows for learning to take place, for knowledge to develop. This will require direct experience on behalf of the learner. It will require engagement, participation, action, and effort . This is how knowledge is made. Let’s change the conversation to this.
Learning requires a learner, not a still body listening. Learning requires action and personal involvement. It requires a SELF immersed.
